Catholic to the Core

Equipping the Whole Person Class by Class

Harne_Blog_600x300

Catholic scholar Dr. George Harne joined University of St. Thomas as its new executive dean of Arts & Sciences, the University’s largest and most diverse school. His appointment reaffirms UST’s commitment to a strong, Catholic, liberal arts core, which seeks to form the whole person as students become highly desirable to employers with real-world skills.

Harne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as former president of Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts in Warner, New Hampshire, since 2011. He shepherded that school to further develop the curriculum and integrated humanities program, recruited nationally recognized faculty, secured accreditation with the New England Commission of Higher Education and extended the college’s national reputation. He also served as the academic dean at the college and was responsible for the development of a new honors program.

Harne brings his deep love for the liberal arts and the Catholic intellectual and spiritual traditions to UST. “UST is poised at this extraordinary moment for growth here and nationally,” Harne said.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Harne to our UST family!
