Business Alumnus Constructs Support for UST Scholarships

Hosting the Performing and Fine Arts Society Membership Tea at his home along with his wife, Kaitlyn, is just one of the many ways Michael G. Scheurich, MBA ’99, supports the University of St. Thomas. Scheurich is a business alumnus and CEO of Arch-Con Corporation. He founded the company in 2000 after fine-tuning his business plan in the UST MBA program.

“I chose UST for my MBA because of the great reputation that the business school has, along with its Catholic foundation,” Scheurich said.

Today, Arch-Con Corporation handles volume of more than $500 million annually. That success led Houston Business Journal to recognize Scheurich as one of Houston’s “most-admired CEOs” in 2018.

Scheurich stays involved with the University in meaningful ways, including in the business school as a member of the CSB Alumni Board, co-chair of UST’s Golf Tournament, supporter of the Mardi Gras Gala and member of UST’s Buildings and Grounds Committee. In 2019 the business school honored him with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Having grown up in a large Catholic family — his father is a deacon — Scheurich makes faith, family and friends cornerstones of his life and business.

“Construction is hard, and I believe that I have been successful through my business journey because I have kept God at the forefront of my decisions,” he said. “It allows me to have a business based on service to others.”
