Some schools will require an essay, and\/or letters of recommendation, but almost all will want your transcripts. This seems like a simple request, but can hold up the process if done incorrectly. This confidential educational information can only be requested by you. Make sure to review your school\u2019s policy on how to request transcripts, the costs and how long it takes for them to be sent. Always do this early instead of waiting for the deadline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research your method of delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just because your school has a fancy new system for sending transcripts electronically doesn\u2019t mean the university you\u2019re applying to can accept them in that form. UST can accept electronic transcripts, but when in doubt, visit a school\u2019s website or call their admissions office to verify.<\/p>\n<p>If they can\u2019t accept them electronically, you can mail in your transcripts. Just make sure to check the address, as they may need to be mailed to a specific department or post office box number.<\/p>\n<p>Some may allow you to drop off them off in person.\u00a0 If so, make sure it\u2019s signed and in a sealed envelope. If you receive an unsealed envelope, talk to your school\u2019s Registrar\u2019s office and get a new one. It\u2019s always a good idea to request a few extra copies to have. Universities will require ALL of your academic information. While UST will only use your high school GPA for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stthom.edu\/public\/index.asp?page_ID=100039\" target=\"_blank\">scholarship consideration<\/a>, we cannot review your file until we receive all your official transcripts. Make sure you request official transcripts from all the colleges where you\u2019ve earned credit. This will NOT make you a transfer student, regardless of hours, but is still important for use in admissions consideration and class credit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trust but verify<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As an admissions counselor, I will be regularly checking to see if your transcript arrived. That being said, I love it when I get a follow-up call or e-mail letting me know a transcript was submitted. Not only does it make things easier on me, it makes my review of your file much faster. This also helps you, and gives you time to re-request any material that didn\u2019t arrive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There\u2019s always one last request <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, we received your application, transcript, test scores, and any additional documentation we requested. After careful review, we offered you admission to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stthom.edu\/public\/index.asp?page_ID=100847\" target=\"_blank\">University of St. Thomas<\/a>. Now, in May, after signing your housing contract and enrolling in classes, you get a call from me requesting a transcript. That\u2019s because we need your FINAL transcript, the transcript that includes all of your grades from all of your classes as well as your graduation date. We\u2019re not going to revoke admission, but it\u2019s required to be on file before you can enroll in your second semester of classes.<\/p>\n<p>Submitting your transcript should be one of your easiest steps if you follow my advice.
